Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Meet Alexis Haymans, LCSW

Hi, I’m Alexis. I help women and LGBTQ+ individuals navigating life changes, exploring their identity, or seeking relief from overwhelming mental health symptoms. Fernlight Therapy is rooted in the way I show up as a therapist: direct, real, and all in. I’ll absolutely laugh at your dark humor and keep us directed toward goals. I prioritize authenticity in therapy; I'm not a blank slate, and I don’t pretend to be the expert of your life. I show up as my full, honest self so you feel safe enough to do the same.

I’m a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) therapist, which means we focus on understanding how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact—and how to change the patterns that keep you stuck. We’ll dig into the beliefs and habits that fuel anxiety, depression, and self-doubt, challenge the narratives that aren’t serving you, and build practical tools that help you respond to life differently and live a life of fulfillment. Therapy with me is collaborative and active—you won’t be talking into a void. I balance accountability with empathy to cheer you on and keep it real throughout our work together.

we offer support for:

Life Changes

Major changes, whether planned or unexpected, often come with a mix of excitement, uncertainty, and stress. I support clients through transitions such as starting school, entering the workforce, relocating, relationship shifts, or changes in identity. Therapy can be a place to make sense of what’s changing, clarify what matters most, and develop practical ways to stay grounded and resilient during periods of growth.

Identity & Sexuality

Exploring identity or living openly as part of the LGBTQ+ community can be deeply affirming, and it can also come with real challenges—especially in the face of stigma or limited support. I offer affirming care that supports identity exploration and emotional well-being. I also provide gender-affirming support letters and assist clients in navigating insurance requirements for gender-affirming procedures.

Women’s Mental Health

Women often navigate layered expectations related to relationships, career, family roles, and self-identity. If you’re entering a new phase of life, working on boundaries, or healing from past experiences, therapy can help you reconnect with your needs and priorities. Our work focuses on strengthening self-confidence, deepening self-awareness, and supporting you in living more authentically.

Anxiety & Depression

Anxiety and depression can make everyday life feel heavy, overwhelming, and unpredictable. In our sessions, we will explore the underlying factors contributing to these experiences while also developing practical coping tools you can use in your daily life. Together, we’ll work to strengthen emotional regulation, improve interpersonal relationships, and enhance confidence and effectiveness across settings.

Trauma Recovery

Past trauma can shape how you see yourself, relate to others, and navigate the world. I’ll provide a safe, validating space to process your experiences at your own pace. Using trauma-informed techniques, we’ll work to reduce distress, build resilience, and move toward a sense of safety and control.
